Mr Lui Che Woo, chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd, said that part of Phase 3 for the Cotai casino resort Galaxy Macau would start to operate by 2019 but not much information were given about what elements would start to operate first.
The company is now in full force in the development of Phase 3 and Phase 4 of the resort Galaxy Macau and the group would like to see parts of Phase 3 and the whole part of Phase 4 could be operated within two to three years starting from 2020. In February 2018, Mr Francis Lui Yiu Tung, deputy chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd said that the Phase 3 of Galaxy Macau would have 1,500 hotel rooms, casino space as well as a large arena that could hold up to 16,000 seats. Besides that, Phase 3 would also include a MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) center. As for Phase 4 of the Galaxy Macau, there would have around 3,000 rooms and would focus mainly on non-gaming elements. The total capital investment of the projects of Phase 3 and Phase 4 was approximately USD87.50 million (HKD700 million).
For the month of April 2018, the casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) in Macau rose by 27.60% year-on-year to around USD3.18 billion (MOP25.73 billion) according to data released by the Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ). The total tally GGR from January to April 2018 came to USD12.78 billion (MOP102.24 billion), a 22.20% year-on-year expansion. A rough figure that showed the daily GGR in Macau for the month of April was USD107.25million (MOP858 million).
