MGS Entertainment Show 2017 – Innovation & Interactive MGS Opens 3-day Exhibition and Summit
In its Five-Year Development Plan, released last year, the Macau SAR Government set out its plans to develop Macau into a smart city. In its efforts to optimize the economy and improve life for residents and tourists, the government is embracing next-generation information technologies. Macau’s geographical location and status as the most lucrative gaming jurisdiction in the world mean that the city enjoys special international focus, setting it up to be an example of how a smart city handles transportation and medical services, urban management, and IT training.
Running with the government’s initiative, the 2017 MGS Entertainment Show is titled “Smart City, Smart Economy”. The show and summit on 14-16 November will bring a variety of exhibitors and speakers to The Venetian Macao to highlight innovations in gaming, entertainment and beyond. With last year’s MGS bringing visitors from 60 countries and this year’s show focusing on China’s Belt & Road Initiative, the 2017 MGS Entertainment Show will be an important part of Macau’s new role in the future of technology.
Interestingly, the Macau Government announced this month that it had entered into an agreement with Alibaba to lay cloud computing infrastructure to update Macau’s public services. As Alibaba and the world look to Macau as a model of how technology is transforming cities, this year’s show is an important opportunity for technology companies to showcase their products to the world.
